The Enforcement Directorate shared its findings with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in July, according to sources. One notable aspect of this revelation is that none of the short sellers, including three from India and four from Mauritius, had disclosed their ownership structures to income tax authorities.
Some of these companies allegedly established their short positions just two to three days prior to the release of the Hindenburg report on January 24. This suggests that they may have been acting on insider information or attempting to manipulate the market. Furthermore, some of these entities were reportedly engaging in short trades for the very first time, raising questions about their motives and market knowledge.
