AT SCO SUMMIT, PM MODI'S SPEECH TAKES A VEILED SWIPE AT CHINA, PAKISTAN

India, represented by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the SCO Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, emphasized the importance of addressing sovereignty, territorial integrity, and fair trade rights in connectivity projects. The remarks, delivered on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscored the bloc’s principles of mutual respect for territorial integrity, noninterference in internal affairs, and non-use of force among its nine member nations.

India’s statement alluded to concerns over projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and highlighted issues with China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), citing past concerns about fairness in project participation.
