India’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Nepal, Prasanna Shirivastava, and Nepal’s Minister of Parliament, Narayan Khadka, recently came together for a momentous occasion – the laying of the foundation stone for the Shree Janata Belaka Secondary School’s new building in Baleka Municipality, Udayapur district. This significant event, facilitated under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation,’ marked the collaborative effort between the two nations to contribute to the educational landscape of Nepal.
In an official press release, the Indian Embassy in Nepal shared the details of this noteworthy initiative. The school construction, supported by the Government of India’s financial assistance, is estimated to cost NRs 3.79 crore (approximately 286,000 USD). The project is designed to address the infrastructure needs of the Shree Janata Belaka Secondary School, featuring a triple-story building with classrooms and other essential facilities.
The ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation framework serves as the backbone for such projects, emphasizing the commitment of both nations to foster development. The grant provided by the Government of India, under this cooperation, aims to make a tangible impact on the community. This particular endeavor falls under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) category, previously known as Small Development Projects, as per the agreement between the governments of India and Nepal.
