TRENDS Research & Advisory Centre participated in the 2nd Annual Forum for Think Tanks in Arab Countries with a research paper titled "The Use of AI by Terrorist Groups: Threats and the Role of Think Tanks."
The forum, which concluded yesterday, was organized by the Research and Strategic Studies Department at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States. It was held under the theme, "Toward an Arab Mechanism to Counter Threats of the Use of AI by Terrorist Groups."
The TRENDS research paper highlighted the critical role think tanks can play in countering the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) systems by terrorist groups. It outlined several strategies to address this emerging threat, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among government bodies, technology companies, and research institutions.
The paper called for fostering constructive partnerships to develop innovative and effective solutions that can mitigate the risks posed by extremist organizations leveraging AI for their operations.
