CMA chair Mqondisi Ngcobo, his deputy Les Burnard, Kerwin Basson and Phumlani Ntuli have left the association for various reasons, some of which are believed to be linked to ongoing wrangles that have plunged CMA into an unprecedented crisis.
Ngcobo and Burnard are said to have announced their resignations on Tuesday evening, citing personal reasons.
It is unclear who will assume the duties of the chair and vicechair until November, when the next CMA annual meeting is due to be held and widespread changes to the board are expected.
"It is true that I resigned because I could not take it any more.
I feel disappointed, backstabbed, and betrayed," said Ntuli.
Burnard could not be reached for comment yesterday, while Basson confirmed that he had also resigned.
