MEDICAL AID: HALF OF MEMBERS WILL HAVE INCREASE OF 8.4% OR LESS.
Discovery Health, the administrator of Discovery Health Medical Scheme, has announced that the contributions for its three high-end plans - the Executive, Classic Comprehensive, and Classic Smart Comprehensive plans 11% from January next year.
Contributions for its two coastal plans (Coastal Saver and Coastal Core) will increase by 10.9%.
The total contribution for a main member on the Executive plan jumps from R10 303 to R11 430 will increase by Its Core and Priority plans will see monthly contributions rise by 10% (9.9%), while the popular Saver plans will get an 8.4% escalation. The lowest contribution increase will be across its Smart plans, which will increase by 7.4%.
It says these plans were "launched in 2016 with the objective of providing affordable access to medical scheme cover for modern and digitally savvy healthcare consumers. Since 2016, the membership across the Smart Series has grown to more than 200 000."
