There will be no power outages in Johannesburg over Christmas as the city has agreed to pay R1.4 billion of its outstanding bill to Eskom by the end of this month.
This was announced by Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa yesterday after meeting City of Joburg officials to address the tension between them and Eskom, following a public dispute.
Last week, Eskom warned it might cut Johannesburg's electricity supply if the city fails to settle its debt to the utility.
