Racing today takes place at the Turffontein as well as Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, so punters are in for a double header.
The Turffontein meeting is the main attraction as it hosts some very nice racing, headlined by the Grade 3 Betway Lebelo Sprint and backed up by the Listed 4Racing War Of Athena Handicap.
The latter race will always hold a very special place in my heart due to the success this superstar filly War Of Athena gave me.
She was truly a special filly, and the ease at which she was able to glide through some quality fields and put some of the best fillies to bed was frightening, and even though she was a once-in-a-lifetime filly, the dream is that I'll be able to ride a filly as good as her again.
As mentioned previously, it's really awesome that 4Racing has honoured our recent champions, so well done to them.
Last week saw the running of the World Sports Betting Grand Heritage over 1475m and while it wasn't without drama, Pomodoro's Jet won a really convincing race and never looked like losing.
He had been slightly disappointing previously because he has always shown great potential, but maybe he has finally matured and is a horse to follow.
Well done to the Crawford team, Khaya Stables and Craig Zackey on the win.
The race was meant to run last Saturday, and just prior to the main race running, a huge storm approached, and unfortunately did not move away, so racing had to be abandoned.
However, the WSB Grand Heritage and the WSB Consolation were moved to Tuesday and a new book with the updated fields was created, and this allowed the race to take place.
It was quick out-of-the-box thinking, which is supported by all of us in the industry, so well done to everyone concerned for getting the sponsored race run.
Overall, the two days of racing had a lovely vibe on course and it looked to be a very successful day.
