SUPREME COURT MULLS GUIDELINES ON CONDUCT OF ADVOCATES-ON-RECORD, AFTER BLAME GAME BETWEEN SENIOR ADVOCATE AND AOR ON FALSE STATEMENT

The Supreme Court in the case observed and has decided to lay down guidelines on the conduct of Advocates on Record wherein the false statements were found to have been made to seek remission for a client.

The bench comprising of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case appointed Senior Advocate, Dr.S Muralidhar as the amicus curiae in the matter for assistance.

In the present case, the petition is filed by Senior Advocate Rishi Malhotra and AoR Jaydip Pati in a matter with regards to the false statements.

The bench in the case noted that the senior and the AoR were blaming each other.

The bench headed by Justice Oka stated that, 'the AoR says he acted on instructions of Senior, the Senior says he gave no such instructions. There being an ex-facie misconduct in terms of Supreme court Rules.'
