A high level committee headed by chief secretary Shalini Rajaneesh has proposed a 15 per cent bus fare hike for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses.
Defending the fare revision, the committee pointed out that the four SRTCs and the Bengaluru Mahanagara Transport Corporation (BMTC) had not revised the bus fares since 2020. On an average, these five corporations are incurring an annual loss of Rs 3,650 crore.
