In a bid to address the unprecedented delays in visa processing, the U.S. Embassy in India is set to implement revised rules for scheduling and rescheduling nonimmigrant visa appointments. The changes, which take effect on January 1, 2025, aim to streamline the visa application process and reduce wait times for applicants across the country.
Revised rules
The new regulations introduce key changes that prioritize efficient use of appointment slots and discourage no-shows:
Single free reschedule allowed: Applicants will be permitted to reschedule their visa appointments once without incurring any additional fees. This measure ensures that applicants carefully plan their appointments and avoid unnecessary rescheduling.
