The assault is said to be the fall-out of a petty tiff between two groups over playing songs.

According to the police, the incident was reported from the premises of a MHADA settlement located behind Delta Garden in Kashimira at around 12.30am on Wednesday.

A group of around 10 to 15 youngsters including the deceased Raja Pariyar had gathered to celebrate New Year's Eve.

A heated argument ensued between Pariyar and the accused Ashish Jadhav over playing Bhojpuri numbers on the sound system.
