The Metropolitan Magistrate in Mazgaon, on Thursday, found Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut guilty in a 2022 defamation case filed by Dr Medha K Somaiya, wife of former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, and sentenced him to 15 days in jail, while imposing a fine of Rs25,000.
Shortly afterwards, Raut moved an application before the court, which suspended his jail sentence for 30 days to enable him to file an appeal and also granted him bail. Raut's lawyer Manoj Pingle said they will move the sessions court by next week.
