As many as 3,740 people set a Guinness World Record for the 'Largest simultaneous Hindu text recital' of 43 verses of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita at Lal Parade Ground in the city on Wednesday.

Though the number of participants, mostly Brahmins, was around 7,000, only 3,740 were declared 'qualified' by the representative of Guinness World Records present at the event.

The record was set in nine minutes. The Guinness World Record team handed over the certificate of the record to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the event organised by the culture department under International Gita Mahotsav to mark Gita Jayanti.
