The accident occurred around 12:30 pm when the bus driver applied sudden brakes to avoid colliding with a two-wheeler that veered onto the road unexpectedly, said a senior police official. Tragically, the bus lost balance and flipped, causing the casualties.
Among the deceased was Smita Suryavanshi, a 32-year-old police officer from Morgaon in Gondia. Nine of the II victims have been identified, while efforts are underway to ascertain the identities of the remaining two victims, both believed to be in their 50s.
