After the delimitation of the state urban bodies, the work of inviting claim objections is in progress.
The delimitation of wards in Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation, Kumhari Municipality and Bemetara Nagar Panchayat was challenged. The nature of all three petitions was similar, hence the High Court merged all three petitions together and started hearing them simultaneously.
The petitioners say that the state government has taken the 2011 census as the basis in the order issued for ward delimitation of local bodies across the state. The work of delimitation has been asked to be done on its basis.
