I-T raids at wrestler's house; kin alleges political vendetta

The Income Tax Department (I-T Department) conducted raids on renowned wrestler and prestigious Maharashtra Kesari title holder Abhijit Katke at Wagholi, Pune, early Tuesday morning. Katke is the brother-in-law of rebel BJP leader Amol Balwadkar, rising political temperatures in the Deccan city.

In his early twenties, Katke, hailing from the renowned Shivramdada Talim wrestling gym in Ganesh Peth, and trained under the guidance of Amar Nimbalkar, Bharat Mhaske and Hanmant Gaikwad has won the Yuva Maharashtra Kesari title and secured a bronze medal at the Junior National Wrestling Championship. The taxmen raids on Katke are seen as a political vendetta to quell the rebellion in BJP and make the dissenters toe the party line.
