Lovely day for Delhi BJP

Just like in Punjab where several former Congress leaders have joined the BJP as they could not adjust to their party’s new found love for Aam Aadmi Party, in Delhi too former minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, who had recently quit as Delhi unit chief, joined the saffron party on Saturday.

Along with Lovely, his former ministerial colleague Raj Kumar Chauhan, and two former Congress MLAs Neeraj Basoya and Naseeb Singh, who had all left the Congress last week, also joined the BJP. Delhi Youth Congress president, Amit Malik, also joined the BJP. All these Congress leaders had over the last week spoken out against the party’s central leadership for selecting ‘outsiders’ as candidates for the North East Delhi and North West Delhi seats. They had also opposed the manner in which the AICC general secretary in-charge of Delhi, Deepak Babaria, had dealt with the issue and treated their views.

The party leaders had also objected to the North East Delhi candidate Kanhaiya Kumar praising AAP and its chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s policies and for opposing his arrest in Delhi excise policy case, in highlighting which the Delhi Congress had played a crucial role.
