Mega AIMIM rally short terminated at Mulund

Former MP Imtiaz Jaleel led a 12,000-strong rally comprising members of the AIMIM and other political and social groups from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar to Mumbai on Monday. The protesters demanded action against BJP MLA Nitesh Rane and preacher Ramgiri Maharaj for their alleged hate speeches.

The protest, Tiranga Samvidhan Rally, with over 2,000 vehicles headed toward Mumbai via the Samruddhi Expressway. However, the crowd was stopped at the Mulund Check Naka by a large police contingent owing to lack of permission to enter Mumbai.

"We were informed that private buses, mini-trucks, open trucks and cars were expected, along with an overwhelming crowd. After confirming with the divisional collector, we learned that no permission had been granted.
