The Adani bribery scam has reached the doorsteps of Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu as the previous regime and its top bureaucrat were allegedly involved. The Securities and Exchange Commission of the US, has levelled serious allegations on Gautam Adani that in August 2021, he had personally met the then AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and asked him if any "incentives" were needed to make the AP government enter into a PSA with SECI.
Approximately, Rs 1750 crores ($228 million) was offered to one official to persuade Andhra Pradesh's power distribution company to purchase 7 gigawatts of power from the SECI. Andhra Pradesh's electricity distribution companies entered into a PSA with SECI on or about December l, 2021, pursuant to which the state agreed to purchase approximately seven gigawatts of solar power, by far the largest amount of any Indian state or region."
