The commission said the action taken under the Essential Commodities Act – which aims to curb black marketing – was in utter disregard of the law. With the arrest of the complainant, Arun Marode, the cops also violated human rights, underlined the commission.
Coming down heavily on the cops, the rights body directed the special inspector general of police, Amravati Range, and superintendent of police, Akola, to consider launching departmental inquiries against the "erring personnel".
