Rollback GST on health & life insurance: Lawmakers

On a day when developments in Bangladesh held centre stage in Parliament, several opposition MPs also held a protest outside Makar Dwar against the imposition of 18 per cent GST on health and life insurance and to seek its rollback.

Holding placards which read "GST on health insurance is tax terrorism" and "remove 18% GST from health and life insurance", the lawmakers said the tax was a burden on the people and needed to be rolled back.

Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also joined protesting members the Union minister Nitin Gadkari had also called upon his cabinet colleague and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to withdraw this tax.
