Surat Can Witness Another Takshashila-Like Incident

While Surat is widely known as the fourth fastest growing city in the world, the administration lags far behind in the safety of its citizens from man-made disasters.

Despite the devastating Takshashila fire incident that claimed the lives of 22 innocent children on May 24, 2019, the SMC is yet to make robust policy and safety regulations to ensure such incidents never happen again.

However, the Rajkot game zone fire incident came as a final wake up call for the civic authorities as they sealed about 17 small and big game zones, few textile shops and textile markets in Limbayat and Central zones respectively, tuition classes etc., yet, violations of Building Use (BU) and fire safety regulations remain unchecked.
