A massive uproar has erupted across almost all the medical colleges in West Bengal over the death of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital in North Kolkata in the wee hours of Friday. The trainee doctor was found semi naked, dead, and lying on her back on a bench in a seminar room, her face facing the ceiling, with injury marks on her, and blood pooling on the floor.
In a day of quick developments following the discovery of her body Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee direct that the case be fast tracked and also sought capital punishments for the culprits who had allegedly raped and murdered the trainee doctor.
According to the autopsy report there are injuries on the doctor's private parts and other parts of the body. The report also claimed that a bone on her right neck was also broken.
A civic volunteer Sanjoy Roy was arrested on Saturday and produced before sessions and given 14 days police custody.
