Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that his government did not believe in "promoting tourism tragedy".

We don't believe in tragedy tourism, says Fadnavis

He was responding to a question on whether the twin crises of Parbhani riots and Beed sarpanch murder were not serious enough to merit his visit to the two places.

"The action our government took, our response matters more. I do not believe in promoting tragedy tourism," said Fadnavis.

"Both incidents are extremely serious. To my government what matters is what action we have taken and how quickly we responded. I was busy with the winter session [of the assembly] and so Deputy CM Ajit Pawar went to Parbhani and Beed to meet families of the victims. As chief minister I may not be able to attend to every problem when others in the government can handle them," he said.
