An investigation into the deadliest air disaster on South Korean soil has found duck remains in the aircraft's engines, according to a preliminary report, suggesting the passenger jet had hit birds before slamming down on the runway.

While officials have not determined the cause of last month's Jeju Air crash in Muan that killed all but two of the 181 people onboard, the report released yesterday said feathers and bloodstains had been found inside the Boeing 737-800's engines.
