Vice-president 'disrespectful' on Gaza, says Trump as he meets Netanyahu

The US vice-president and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee had seemed to mark a change of tone on the Israel-Gaza war on Thursday after her own meeting with Netanyahu, declaring she would "not be silent" about the suffering of Palestinians.

Trump criticised Harris before his meeting at his Mar-a-Lago home, calling her remarks "disrespectful" as he targeted the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee over an issue that has split her party.

Photographs showed Trump warmly greeting Netanyahu, who is wrapping up a one-week visit to the US that has been marked by large protests against the war. Protesters along the route used by Netanyahu's motorcade held up signs that read "Ceasefire now" and "Convicted felon invites war criminal."

Before the meeting, Netanyahu said he believed that military pressure on Hamas had created "movement" in ceasefire talks and said he would send a team to a forthcoming round of negotiations in Rome.

'Like a boiling pot' - How the maelstrom under Greenland's glaciers may help slow sea level rise

There are stadium-sized blocks of ice crashing from the soaring face of the Kangerlussuup glacier in western Greenland, fierce underwater currents of meltwater shooting out from its base and visibility below the surface is virtually zero owing to a torrent of suspended mud and sand. It's little wonder scientists have never explored this maelstrom.
