WITH a depleted squad due to injury and unavailability, Parkway travelled to Havant and Waterlooville and still looking for their first point of the season.

Three changes were made from Tuesday’s narrow defeat at Gloucester City with Callum Rose, James Watts-Barciela and Will Armstrong replacing the injured Callum Hall and the unavailable Carlo Garside and Ryan Brett. Armstrong had been signed only 24 hours earlier on a dual registration with Weymouth. Only four subs were named one of whom was 16 year old Gene Price.

Parkway got off to the perfect start taking the lead in the fourth minute. Good early pressure saw them win a corner on the left which was only half cleared with Watts-Barciela reacting quickest to the loose ball and drilling home a low shot from around 10 yards under the body of Ben Dudzinski in the home goal who arguably should have done better in attempting his save.

Parkway continued to make the early running with Matt Wright, Mikey Williams and Dylan Jones linking well on nine minutes setting up Watts-Barciela whose low shot was well saved. Tom Dean then shot just wide after more good Parkway build up play.

After withstanding further pressure the hosts gradually started to get into the game and on 15 minutes should have drawn level with Ryan Seager unable to control the ball at close range with McCormick saving well. A let off for Parkway.

Havant now began to dictate the pace of the game creating further scoring opportunities with Seager flashing an effort narrowly wide and Leon Maloney seeing his shot well saved by McCormick. The hosts continued their patient build up play forcing Parkway to defend deep and play on the counter and on 20 minutes they won a midfield 50/50 challenge with Wright firing narrowly wide from around 25 yards.
