A NEW £2m treetop fun park with a 400-metre zip rail could be created in ancient woodland just outside Plymouth. Plans have been proposed by an adventure company in West Devon a year after it withdrew a scheme to build a hugely controversial toboggan ride through the same site.
Zip World is proposing to create the attraction under the tree canopy at the Tamar Trails at Gulworthy which will cover an area a third of the size of that proposed for the gravity-fuelled alpine coaster.
The coaster plan application was withdrawn last year after a huge public outcry and opposition from Gulworthy and Tavistock parish councils and Calstock Parish Council over the border in Cornwall. Residents said the scheme looked more at home in a funfair than an area of outstanding natural beauty and a world heritage site.
