The visitors made a lightning-quick start when they opened the scoring in the first two minutes through Paddy Chase, who went between the posts before Lewis Dennett converted.
But the Londoners’ lead was slashed just minutes later when some excellent attacking work opened them up and allowed Tom Putt to dive over for his first try of 2024.
A Dennett penalty opened the Richmond score back out to seven before the break, but it had been a competitive and promising Albion performance up to that point.
Indeed, the Janners started the second half brightly, and their pressure was rewarded through Angus Hodges. The flanker profited from some outstanding work from debutant Paul Brown-Bampoe to inch Albion in front.
That lead was extended through Tom Putt’s penalty off the tee, and moments later, the Full-Back kicked another treble from a tough angle; his kick soaring just over the bar to establish an eight-point lead.
Terrific game management from there kept Richmond comfortably at bay as Ryan Lamb’s men secured a fine win that saw them return to winning ways.
A special mention must go to Scott Makepeace who, after four years away with major injuries, started and played the majority of the first half in an emotional and inspiring moment for the forward.
