IAN Foster declared that Morgan Whittaker was 'the outstanding candidate' to captain the Plymouth Argyle side he selected for the 3-1 victory over Cardiff City at Home Park.
With Joe Edwards and Jordan Houghton both named among the substitutes by the Pilgrims' boss, he turned to top scorer Whittaker to wear the armband. And the talented 23-year-old attacker responded by getting his 16th goal of the season in the closing stages to wrap up an important win.
Whittaker has been at the centre of much speculation about his future over the first three weeks of the January transfer window, and will very likely continue to be in the coming days.
