PLYMOUTH'S Wilko store has been saved from the axe in the first round of closures which have been announced.
Administrators at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) this week revealed the locations of 52 Wilko stores which are set to close next week.
Devon has Wilko stores in Exeter, Torquay, Newton Abbot, Barnstaple and Plymouth. All have been saved in the first round of announcements - but Truro, St Austell, and Falmouth, in Cornwall, will see their stores shut for good. The only store in Cornwall that has been spared is in Redruth.
A total of 24 branches will shut for good on September 12 - including Falmouth with the remaining 28 stores due to close two days later, on September 14- including St Austell and Truro. This will lead to the loss of 1,016 jobs.
