Their most famous album, Raintown, topped the charts in 1987 and they are still going strong today; so strong, in fact, that their performance in Plymouth is packed out.
Deacon Blue often choose a Scottish artist as their warm-up act but for this tour, promoting their greatest hits anthology, All The Old 45s, they have opted to break away from convention and run the entire show themselves in two parts.
Their opening performance is a stripped back, acoustic affair, whereas their main performance is a loud, proud, riotous celebration of their biggest hits, including Dignity, Loaded and Real Gone Kid.
Deacon Blue have performed in Plymouth on numerous occasions over the decades and, as a result, have a loyal following. They seem happy to be back in Devon and the audience shout their mutual approval as soon as they appear. We know instantly that we are all in for a good night.
