Decision making 'must be better'

PLYMOUTH Parkway take a break from league action tomorrow with their focus turning to the FA Cup as they look to reach the third qualifying round with victory over visiting Westbury United.

Decision making 'must be better'

Chris McPhee’s men reached this stage with an emphatic 4-1 win over Baffins Milton Rovers at Bolitho Park two weeks ago and they will hope for a similar outcome against Division One South side Westbury.

They are still searching for their first league win of the season with McPhee left to rue defensive mistakes in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Taunton Town, which saw his side 2-0 down. Goals from Ryan Brett and Mikey Williams earned a draw but, against ten men, McPhee felt it was two points dropped.

“We can’t keep saying we were unlucky because we weren’t unlucky, we were just poor with our decision making and we have to be better in that regard,” McPhee said. “That starts with our mindset and approach to recovery and the players doing some work on Thursday before our fixture here on Saturday against an opposition that will probably do something similar to what Taunton did in the latter stages; parking the bus a little bit and sitting back in front of their box to protect and we have to break it down without leaving ourselves open on the counter.
