Devonport police station opened in 2012 after a £3.36m investment to move officers from makeshift stations in Marlborough Street and Beacon Park Road.
But Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Alison Hernandez, has made it a priority to reopen police station front desks after feedback from the public.
With police enquiry offices also planned for Looe, Okehampton, Honiton, Ilfracombe and Kingsbridge, Devonport’s new front desk opened for the first time yesterday.
The new police enquiry office will initially open from Monday to Wednesday, with plans to open six days in a week in the new year.
Ms Hernandez will be visiting the new police station front desk on Wednesday, October 18, to meet the team who will be helping members of the public with crime reporting, crime prevention advice, and help with accessing victim services.
