BRINGING to life the fashionobsessed character Emily Charlton is a dream come true for singer and actor Amy Di Bartolomeo, who will be centre stage when the new musical The Devil Wears Prada opens at Theatre Royal Plymouth next month.
Amy is no stranger to TRP, having had roles in previous shows, including We Will Rock You and Priscilla Queen of the Desert, but it was her star turn as one of Henry VIII’s wives in the hit show Six on the West End which has led Amy to the new production which combines her love of fashion with the chance to perform brand new music by Elton John.
She told The Herald: “It’s a full comedy role which I’ve genuinely dreamt of having, so when this came around I was so excited. Doing comedy is bringing me so much joy.
“The creative team have been so kind – they have given me space to create Emily in how she sounds – even what noises she makes. And in Elton’s tracks, it’s an honour to sing his songs, and I really feel like I’ve been able to enjoy them to their fullest.
