Hayman topped that mammoth ton tally off with a 128 checkout that was one of three ton-plus finishes in the match.

Harry Bull’s 124 finish ticked his ton total over to the ten mark for the defeated side, whilst Hayman’s team-mate Mark Yeoman’s 101 combination out-shot had to settle for third best.

Hayman wasn’t the only ‘Billy Boy’ to play at something like his best as Paul Goundry added the Devonport side’s only maximum on his way to 11 tons.

Also prominent was Paul Palmer with a ten-ton personal haul, whilst the other maximums in the match were plundered by Harry and Danny Bull.

Three legs of note over the 501 distance came in ten legs played backto-back by four individuals as Paul Goundry nailed a 17-darter in a 3-2 defeat to Harry Bull.

Danny Bull was also edged out 3-2 by Hayman despite Bull’s 17-darter in riposte to a remarkable leg in 12 by the former Devon and Cornwall man.

George Beckett’s 11 ton-plusses included a 142 high checkout; that total leading Steampacket to an 8-3 success over Fawn A.

Beckett’s mammoth checkout was one of a trio of three-figure out-shots in the game as team-mate Neal Hotchkiss checked a three-dart combo of 122 for the second-best.

A 100 single visit kill from the ageless Mike Nancholas for the defeated team was the third big finish, whilst Beckett (25.47) also showed his class at the business end of legs with a brace of 16-darters in a 3-0 win.

A 9-2 win for Cherry Tree A away at Victory Inn was lit up by 11 tons from Dave Lee, whilst Kev Marshall added a maximum to his ten-ton haul in the match.
