Ivybridge move up to second in C Division West

But in a division with only one promotion place, which Stoke Gabriel claimed by defeating Yelverton last time out, there are no consolation prizes for the runners-up.

Brixham, who were second going into round 17, probably fancied their chances of a win after dismissing the Bridge for 191.

Cebo Tshiki (34) was the only one of the Ivybridge top six to make much headway against Brixham's Bradley McKee, who turned in a season's best of five for 36.

A stand of 97 between Arthur Johnson (42) and Jake Dunn (48) moved Ivybridge from 74 for six to 171 for seven. Both eventually fell to Matt Parsons (2-35).

Brixham's reply went steadily while Tom Hopper (37) and Euan Bridger (32) chiselled out runs. A mini-stumble from 96 for three to 112 for six required some repair work, which Holly Perkin (22) and Phil Hyde (36) did during a stand of 60 for the seventh wicket.

Hyde and Perkin both fell to Tshiki (2-17) one run and two balls apart and that was the end of the chase as Brixham quickly folded on 184 with one ball to go.

■CORNWOOD 2nd XI cannot finish any lower than fourth in the final C Division West table thanks to a 10-run win over Kingsbridge.

And if Robin Dart's men can win at Stoke Gabriel in their final outing this Saturday, they could sneak past Brixham into third place.

Ben Griffiths (51) and Finn Torley (27) took it steadily for Cornwood in a running total of 113 for six. Then the fireworks started!

Ethan Carlisle clubbed 85 not out from 45 deliveries - five sixes, seven fours as Cornwood accelerated to 222 all out in the last of their 45 overs.

Bhanu de Silva (4-31) was Kingsbridge's most efficient and effective bowler.

Kingsbridge, who are heading for a mid-table finish, got up to 133 for two with James Westlake (24), Jack Brown (55) and Freddie Ford (55) all chipping in.
