Having grown up watching the Christmas panto, Plymouth actor Jefferson Parlett completed his progression from theatre fan and aspiring performer to becoming the first in the world to hold a Masters degree in Contemporary Pantomime Practice.
The entertainer, who found success playing the younger incarnation of the sleuthing priest Father Brown in the popular BBC daytime crime drama’s tenth series, has said that completing his research and practical study of the quintessentially British artform is a ‘fairy tale come true’.
Jefferson Parlett is a former pupil of Tavistock College and City College Plymouth, and said that annual visits to Theatre Royal Plymouth with his family, as he was growing up, inspired a love of the stage, and a desire to become a professional pantomime comic.
