PLYMOUTH MP Johnny Mercer agreed to pay back almost £2,000 of taxpayers' money he spent on Tory campaign leaflets, it has been reported.
A complaint from a member of the public saw the Independent Political Standards Authority tell Mr Mercer that an expenses claim for the leaflets should not have been paid, the Daily Mirror has reported.
MPs are only allowed to charge taxpayers for non-political informational publications - and are banned from claiming expenses for campaign leaflets. IPSA said the leaflets did not count as "single issue" nonpolitical communications - but took no further steps as Mr Mercer repaid the money.
