PLYMOUTH MP Johnny Mercer has claimed he will wring out "every last penny" of Government funding to help city residents in the cost of living crisis.
MP: 'Stop the blame game and find solutions’

UK mortgage rates will put an extra 400,000 people in poverty this winter, according to latest analysis, on top of the millions more already slipping below the poverty line. The MP for Moor View and newly re-appointed Veterans Minister has affirmed it will be an "incredibly difficult" time, but that he will do "everything he can" to help Plymouth residents.

Millions of families across the country are struggling through financial hardship and many charities are bracing themselves for a busy winter ahead.

Citizens Advice say the "already worrying" number of people self-disconnecting from pre-payment energy meters could spike amid increasing cost of living pressures.

'Warm spaces' are being set up across the UK and in Plymouth and Jeremy Hunt has warned families will face "very tough" times as mortgage costs soar.

But former British Army officer Johnny Mercer has claimed he will do 'everything in his power' to help Plymouth residents deal with the difficult months ahead.

"I'm going to make sure that every single last penny of help is wringed out of the government," he said. "In my latest newsletter, the first three items were all about specific help for people with cost of living, whether it's for energy costs, for childcare there are government schemes, and there are specific Plymouth schemes. Just getting that information out there so that people can apply for these schemes is really important.
