A DERRIFORD Hospital neonatal nurse has been selected as one of 75 nurses and midwives whose work has had an especially significant impact on the NHS. The special commendation was given to Róisín McKeon-Carter by the Nursing Times.
Róisín, who is a neonatal nurse consultant with University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, has been working in her field since 1990, when she joined the speciality having been a Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse. She initially trained as a speciality neonatal intensive care unit nurse and since then, she has progressed through the ranks, becoming a staff nurse, sister, ward manager, advanced neonatal nurse practitioner (ANNP) and now a neonatal nurse consultant.
