Olly is shown charms of city by fiancée

CELEBRITY couple Olly Murs and Amelia Tank have told how their love for Plymouth and its beautiful waterfront helped to seal their romance.

The soon-to-be-married couple, spoke exclusively to The Herald about how they spend their time in Britain's Ocean City.

Bodybuilder Amelia, 30, said she is "very proud" to call beautiful Plymouth home, speaking of her love for a walk around the Hoe and her her top recommendations for meals in the city.

She met Olly in Essex, and says the singer was surprised to learn that she was a "Janner" - a term he had never heard before - as she spoke with the accent of his home county.

Olly, 38, said: "I'd performed at the Pavilions in 2011, so I remembered Plymouth anyway and I had great fans down there... a beautiful city, lovely people.

"It didn't frighten me or scare me when I met Amelia and she was like: 'I'm from Plymouth' I don't mean that badly. I mean I wasn't scared that she lived so far and her family were so far - if anything, it was really exciting to go down there and we love being by the coast!

"Something that I've learnt more, being with Amelia, is how much I actually love it," he added. "I love being down near the coast and near the water. Plymouth is beautiful and Amelia's family are all great."

Olly and Amelia got together about six months before lockdown, with social distancing restrictions in place during many of the trips the couple took to Amelia's home city. Thankfully, they were able to spend Christmas with Amelia's family.

When Olly and Amelia are in Amelia's home city, they usually just "chill out" at her mum's house. "She feeds us lots of food and looks after us," Amelia said.
