Parkway could widen search for a 'fox in the box' striker

PLYMOUTH Parkway manager Lee Hobbs says the club may have to cast their net wider to recruit the goalscorer that he wants to bring to Bolitho Park.

Parkway could widen search for a 'fox in the box' striker

Parkway exited the FA Cup in midweek when they lost 2-1 at Frome Town, but it was yet another match where the difference was in both penalty boxes with Frome taking the chances that came their way and Parkway spurning theirs.

It was a similar case in both the first Cup tie at Bolitho Park and at Brixham in last week's Devon St Luke's Challenge Cup game - and in some league games as well with Hobbs feeling the type of player they need is hard to find this side of Bristol.

Last season, the club had Ben Seymour as the 'fox in the box' but they have been unable to replace his predatory instincts after he left for National South side Hampton & Richmond over the summer.

"I can't fault the boys," Hobbs said. "Their work ethic, their determination, their enthusiasm, the patterns of play, the quality in between boxes - we are as good as anyone. But it is in both boxes where we are lacking.

"We are struggling to score the goals and we are gifting teams goals, so we need to cut it out at one end and we need to deliver at the other end, but it is very, very frustrating.
