Parkway in a good place despite nightmare journey home
The Herald|October 06, 2023
PLYMOUTH Parkway travelled in luxury to their midweek trip to Winchester City, but what was supposed to have been a comfortable trip there and back enjoying the many mod cons on top-of-the-range coaches of today didn’t quite go to plan.

The trip there went well enough with the cub hiring the team coach Plymouth Argyle used up until the end of last season, but the trip back couldn’t have gone any worse, as manager Lee Hobbs explains.

“I didn’t get in until 7.45am and Karl Curtis got in at 8.15am,” Hobbs said. “We had an absolute horror show.

“The club gave us the luxury of that Plymouth Argyle team coach from last season and we were all made up, we travelled up in style because it was midweek and limited fans and we enjoyed all the fancy trimmings posh seats and tables that comes with it.

“We played the game and left, but about 20 minutes down the road from Winchester’s ground, one of the supporters said; ‘Lee, the driver wants you…’

“I went down and he said we had to stop. I said; ‘why, what’s up?’ and he said it’s overheating. We stopped for 20 minutes and was on the phone to the fitter, adding water etc, etc and when we restarted, it had made no difference.
