LIZZI DIED FROM A RARE FORM OF CANCER

Paul to cycle 1,000 miles to honour sister

A TAVISTOCK man is taking on a 1,000-mile cycling challenge in memory of his sister, who fought a 15-year battle against a rare form of cancer before succumbing last year.

Paul Thompson is riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats this August, and raising money for several different charities as a tribute to his sister Lizzi Snaith.

Lizzi died in August last year, on her wedding anniversary, having been diagnosed with a brain tumour 15 years earlier when she was eight months pregnant.

The mum-of-one was found to have an astroblastoma – a rare form of brain tumour which usually means a life expectancy of just 18 months after diagnosis. But Lizzi fought bravely and underwent multiple operations and treatments, including chemotherapy and Gamma Knife treatment.
