A CELEBRATORY parade turned into an indoor ceremony as the British weather forced the Navy and civic leaders in Plymouth to hold a 60th anniversary event inside the Guildhall this week.
The parade, which would have seen 300 sailors and Royal Marines pounding through the heart of Plymouth on Wednesday, was to mark the anniversary of the Senior Service receiving the city's highest honour.
But a forecast of strong winds and heavy rain put the kibosh on the march, with the pomp and ceremony of the occasion instead 6 held inside the city's historic Guildhall.
Around 100 personnel gathered in the Great Hall of Plymouth's Guildhall, with music provided by the Band of His Majesty's Royal Marines Plymouth, accompanying the anniversary freedom ceremony before the city's Deputy Lord Mayor.
