PRIVATE renters in Plymouth are paying more than a fifth of their household income on rent, but rents in the city are becoming more affordable.
The typical private rent in the city cost 22.9% of the average household income in the financial year ending March 2023, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
That's down from 28.8% in the 2021/22 financial year and is lower than 29.8% in 2014/15, the earliest year for which figures are available.
It means that rents in Plymouth are becoming more affordable for the typical household and are more affordable than in England as a whole.
