WHAT LAST WEEK OF SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW COULD HOLD FOR PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
CHRIS ERRINGTON
STILL LOOKING

ALMOST without exception, every time Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher has faced the media over recent weeks he has been asked about the potential for more new signings before the end of the summer transfer window.

It was no different after the agonising 2-1 Championship defeat by Birmingham City at St Andrew's on Saturday, although the inevitable question did not yield too much information.

"We are still looking to add, hopefully that will be done sooner rather than later," replied Schumacher. "In the next couple of days, fingers crossed."

The transfer deadline is at 11pm this Friday and Schumacher has made it clear he wants to add another striker to his squad on a season-long loan.

Even though the in-form Ryan Hardie has scored three goals in the first four Championship games of the season the only other forward option for Schumacher at the moment is Ben Waine and that is obviously not enough.

It was reported by transfer news expert Pete O'Rourke of the Football Insider website on Friday that Middlesbrough's 20-year-old Josh Coburn had agreed a season-long loan to Argyle.

Herald Sport understands Coburn - who was unused substitute for Boro's 4-2 Championship defeat away to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday is an option the Pilgrims have looked at very closely.
