THE Prime Minister has been urged to scrap tolls on the bridge and ferry link which connects Devon and Cornwall.
Rishi Sunak was asked at this week’s Prime Minister’s Questions by Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray to remove the charges on the Tamar Bridge and ferry service, as part of Levelling Up.
Mrs Murray, Conservative MP for South-East Cornwall, urged the Prime Minister to support an end to the “extra tax”.
She said: “The Prime Minister quite rightly often criticises the Scottish Government for the extra tax they put on residents. Well, in my part of Cornwall ,we have an extra tax called the Tamar Toll.
“I have been working on a petition with my neighbour, the MP for Plymouth Moor View [Johnny Mercer]. Would the Prime Minister make our part of our country more competitive by losing this extra tax and help our community level up?”
